Phytoplankton Inspires Art

I am so excited about being one of the artists invited by the Arts Center in Corvallis to do a work of art based on Angelicque White's research on phytoplankton. All the pieces will be shown during the da Vinci Days. Angelicque is an assistant professor at OSU and takes amazing photos of the even more amazing microscopic plants and critters in our oceans. I'll post what I come-up with as it gets done...

New Work Inspired by Architecture

Architecturally inspired paintings by Jenny Gray in the new "Structure" series.

These new paintings are abstractions of the barns, factories and mills I encounter in rural Oregon. I am fascinated by the scale and geometry of the buildings in the open landscape. The picture plane is often flattened to focus on the angles and shapes. This series has an emphasis on line, and as in past work I continue to explore color, texture and   composition. I will be having a show of this new work at OpusVII starting March 2nd 2012.

UVA Wine Bar Friday 8/14

I'll be at UVA Wine Bar in the Courtyard at Oakway Center in Eugene from 5-7:30 Friday August 14th for a "Meet the Artist" event. UVA is displaying some of my large oil paintings from the "Painting to Print" series and I will bring a couple of prices for a sneak peek of a new series that I am working on.

New Work in Progress

Below are some new paintings based on large machines with the ever present hint of typography in there too. In this series I am exploring textures, the paint itself and collage's influence on composition in my painting.

Opus Closed but Paintings Still Around

A nice collection of my paintings are now at UVA Wine Bar in Oakway Center. It's a wonderful wine bar, I just want to hang out with friends and sip vino when I am in there. You can also see a lot of my work at the Lawrence Gallery in Portland's Pearl District.

WHAT: Broadley Vineyards Tasting and Art Show Event

WHERE: Broadley Winery - 265 S. 5th Street (HWY 99W), Monroe, OR 97456

WHEN: Sat., May 23 and Sun. May 24, 11 am - 5 pm

On Saturday & Sunday; May 23rd and 24th from 11-5pm the Broadley Winery will be open to the public for this tasting and art show event. The tasting will consist of wines available from the 2007 vintage. While at our Open House, meet and enjoy the work of featured artists: Suma Elan, Nonie Fish, Jenny Gray, John Holdway and Jerry Ross.  Entry is free but there will be a $10 tasting fee for this event.
